Prescription drugs are the second-most abused category of drugs in America, and over 70% of people who abused them got them from friends or family members (source). It’s a problem everywhere in America, even in Buffalo County. Click here to read Kearney Hub articles on prescription drugs. To fight this problem, the Buffalo County Sheriff’s Office, the Elks, Positive Pressure, Good Samaritan Hospital, and Two Rivers Public Health Department sponsor the Prescription Drug Take-Back. Over the past two years, they have recovered over 1,500 lbs. of unwanted medication, ensuring those drugs were destroyed correctly to avoid abuse or environmental problems.
